Nine Judges Of The Supreme Court Took Oath Together

Nine judges of the Supreme Court took the oath together for the first time, now there are 33 judges in the top court.

For the first time in the history of the Supreme Court, nine judges were administered oaths simultaneously.

Chief Justice of India NV Ramana will administer the oath to all of them. Three women judges were also among those who took the oath.

With this, the number of judges of the Supreme Court has gone up to 33.

The swearing-in ceremony took place in the auditorium of the building complex in addition to the Supreme Court.

Let us tell you that till now it was a tradition that the oath of office to the new judges is administered in the courtroom of the Chief Justice.

The swearing-in ceremony was also telecast live on DD News, DD India. Apart from this, the ceremony was also done on the home page of the official web portal of the Supreme Court.

Justices Abhay Srinivas Oka, Vikram Nath, Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, Hima Kohli, and B.K. V. Nagarathna.

Apart from this, Justices CT Ravikumar, MM Sundaresh, Bela M Trivedi, and PS Narasimha have also been administered the oath of office.

Let us tell you that the collegium of the Supreme Court had sent the names of these judges to the government, which were accepted.

Government withdraws the names of 14 lawyers of Supreme Court Collegium, a recommendation was made for promotion as High Court judges

The government has returned the names of 14 lawyers of the Supreme Court collegium who were recommended for promotion as high court judges.

Sources in the government said all these names were returned in late July and early August with a request to reconsider within a week.

These recommendations were made by the apex court collegium almost a year ago. In some cases, the recommendations were made more than a year ago.

The names were finalized for the High Courts of Delhi, Calcutta, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, and Kerala, sources said.

In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju had said that during the past year.

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended 80 names for appointment as judges of various High Courts. 

Of these, 45 people have been appointed as judges and the remaining proposals are under discussion at various stages. The posts of 1,098 judges are sanctioned for 25 High Courts in the country.

The number of judges serving as of August 1 was 643. Right now there is a shortfall of 455 judges.

CJI NV Ramana to administer an oath to new judges as Supreme Court judges.

On the other hand, Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana will administer the oath of office to nine new judges, including three women judges, as judges of the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

This is the first time in the history of the apex court that nine judges will take an oath of office together.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place in the auditorium of the building complex in addition to the Supreme Court.

Traditionally, the oath of office to new judges is administered in the courtroom of the Chief Justice.
