Niti Aayog CEO: India has too much democracy so it becomes difficult to implement tough reforms. 

NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant has said that tough reforms are difficult to implement in India, as there is a lot of democracy.

Kant said this on Tuesday. Kant said that India needed reforms to make it competitive.

He said that for the first time the Center has taken stringent reforms in various sectors including mining, coal, labor, agriculture and now states should move forward the next phase of reforms.

Kant said this while addressing the program of a magazine virtually.

Kant further said in his address, ‘It is very difficult to implement stringent reforms in India. The reason for this is that there is too much democracy here.

There is a need for political will in India to carry forward the reforms of mining, coal, labor, agriculture, etc. and there are many such reforms that should be taken forward.

The current government has shown the political will to implement tough reforms. ‘

Kant also said that we cannot easily compete with China without drastic reforms. Kant said that the next round of reforms now needs to be done by the states.

He said, “If 10-12 states grow at a high rate, then India will automatically grow at a higher rate. We have asked the union territories to privatize the distribution companies.

Distribution companies should be more competitive and provide cheaper electricity. ‘

On the reforms related to the agriculture sector, Kant said, ‘We need to understand that the minimum support price (MSP) system will continue, the mandis will continue to work as before.

Farmers should have the option to sell their crop according to their choice, as it will benefit them.
