Novak Djokovic’s Visa In Australia Was Canceled For Second Time

Novak Djokovic’s visa in Australia was canceled for the second time, a tennis player can go to court against the decision.

The Australian government on Friday revoked Novak Djokovic’s visa for the second time, saying the world’s number one tennis player has not got the coronavirus vaccine and could pose a risk to the community.

With this, his chances of playing in the Australian Open seem to be almost over.

His eyes are on winning the 21st Grand Slam title in this tournament. However, he can go to court for this decision.

The country’s immigration minister, Alex Hawke, used discretionary powers to revoke Djokovic’s visa. Earlier a court had lifted the ban on Djokovic.

In such a situation, his lawyers can appeal against this decision in the Federal Circuit and Family Court.

Hawke used his power against this decision. “Today I exercised my power under Section 133C(3) of the Migration Act to revoke Novak Djokovic’s visa on grounds of health and other issues,” he said.

It was in the public interest to do so. Djokovic was included in the Australian Open draw on Thursday.

This happened while he was waiting for the government’s decision whether he would be expelled or get a chance to play for not being vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Despite this camaraderie, the Australian Open organizers kept him in a draw. Meanwhile, the Australian government has canceled his visa.

Significantly, Djokovic’s visa was revoked on arrival in Melbourne last week because he did not meet the criteria required for medical exemption in the Corona Vaccination Rules.

He later won the legal battle and his visa was reinstated. Since then, Immigration Minister Alex Hawke has been considering revoking the visa by exercising his personal authority against the court’s decision.

Australian Open starts on Monday. In such a situation, doubts are hovering over Djokovic winning the 21st Grand Slam title.

He has currently won 20 Grand Slam titles, similar to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
