Nuakhai Juhar: PM Modi gave ‘Nuakhai Juhar’ wishes, to the farmers, said – get good health and prosperity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the farmers of Odisha Chhattisgarh and neighboring states for the Nuakhai Juhar.

On the occasion of ‘Nuakhai Juhar’, one of the oldest festivals celebrated in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and areas of neighboring states to welcome the new crop of seasonality, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended his best wishes to the farmers and their good health And wished for prosperity.

Prime Minister Modi tweeted that the special occasion of Nuakhai is about celebrating the hard work of our farmers. It is because of their efforts that our nation is fed. May this auspicious day bring prosperity and good health to all. Nuakhai Juhar is an agricultural festival also known as Nuakhai Parab or Nukahi Bhetghat.

Nuakhai is a combination of two words that signify eating new rice as ‘Nua’ means new and ‘Khai’ means food. On this day, people worship food and prepare special food. Farmers give the first yield from their land to the famous ‘Goddess’ Goddess Samaleshwari of Sambalpur district of Odisha.

Apart from this, the locals organize several cultural events – folk songs and dances in their respective districts on this day to showcase the local culture and tradition of the state. However, this year, people will celebrate the festival while staying indoors due to the outbreak of COIVID-19.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday has congratulated Congress leader and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on his birthday. Baghel, who assumed the post of Chief Minister of the state in 2018, turned 59 on Sunday. The Prime Minister said in a tweet in Hindi, “Heartiest congratulations to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on his birthday. May God grant him long life and keep him healthy at all times.”
