Sunil Gavaskar faced 174 balls and scored only 36 runs with the help of one four. In the same match, Gundappa Vishwanath scored the highest 37 runs, facing only 59 balls. It is said that Gavaskar played such a slow innings to oppose ODI cricket.
Srinivas Venkataraghavan was the captain of India in the World Cup. In the first World Cup, the Indian team had won only once. India won the match against East Africa by 10 wickets. In this match, Sunil Gavaskar played an unbeaten innings of 65 runs in 86 balls and hit 9 fours in the innings.
