ONGC employee freed from ULFA clutches, kidnapped on April 21. The hijacked ONGC employee Ritul Saikia was released by ULFA (I) militants on Saturday morning.
Ritul was released by militants this morning near the Myanmar border adjoining Nagaland in India. Saikia was kidnapped on 21 April and released today near the border of Longwa village in Mon district, Nagaland.
The top official of Assam Police Headquarters (top official) gave this information to Prakt. The officer said that Saikia had left Myanmar at 7 am today and had to walk for 40 minutes to reach India.
He further said, ‘Army and Nagaland Police brought Saikia to Mon Police Station. The Assam Police was also present at that time and completed all the necessary actions to bring them back home.
Three Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) employees were abducted on April 21 from Lakwa oilfield in Sivasagar district near Assam-Nagaland border.
Two of its employees, Mohini Mohan Gogoi and Alakesh Saikia, were relinquished on 24 April after an encounter in Nagaland’s Mon district, but searches continued for Saikia.
Explain that for Saikia, Himanta Vishwa Sharma appealed to ULFA (I) chief Paresh Barua to leave. On Thursday, he said that repeated attacks on the oil field would weaken the state’s economy.
The Chief Minister said that the Assam government will pressurize the oil companies to invest more for the progress of the state, but this can only happen in a favorable environment.
The Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma said, ‘I appeal to Paresh Barua to release Ritul Saikia.
Earlier, we did not make this appeal to ULFA , as we were not aware of his possession but when Barua said that Ritul Saikia was with him. So today I appeal. If there is a demand, it will not be fulfilled by Saikia’s kidnapping. ‘
