Online crime in the UK from India, London police raids six cities with CBI. According to the London Police, Britons were targeted in these scams led by a British citizen. Offices in India were used in these scams.

The action in India has been done in collaboration with CBI. India and Britain have raided ten offices in six cities in India, launching a joint campaign against online crime caused by computer software.

The joint action was taken by the London Police and CBI on 17 September. Action has been taken against 37 call centers of both the countries and 88 people have been arrested throughout the operation.

According to the London Police, Britons were targeted in these scams led by a British citizen. Offices in India were used in these scams. The action in India has been done in collaboration with CBI. This will continue.

During this time, the CBI was provided with all the evidence which had been obtained from the victims and was discovered by the British police in its investigation.

Based on the available evidence, the CBI fully assisted the London Police and would take all efforts to bring the case to the Indian court to punish the accused.

London Police Chief Superintendent of Intelligence Affairs Alex Rothwell said that during the lockdown in India, there was a significant reduction in online fraud cases in the UK.

The reason for this was that the offices involved in the scam were closed and not many scams were done. But criminals constantly try to continue their work.

A large number of people are now working from home. In such a situation, now we will try to commit crimes online from home.

How is a scam

In this scam, the first victim’s computer is sent a message about a serious technology problem. In this, the victim is asked to call a helpline number. This number calls for a fee to protect against viruses.

This fee is sought online so that the victim’s bank details are known to the scam gang. From this bank detail, the gang commits other kinds of disturbances which cause financial injury to the victim.
