Our aim is not just to kill terrorists but to end terrorism says IGP Kashmir: National Anti-Terrorism Day. Our aim is not just to kill the terrorists but to end terrorism.
The Kashmir Valley has to be re-created as a paradise where people lived in a safe environment. Much has been improved and needs to be improved.
On National Anti-Terrorism Day, we pledge that the police and other security forces will fight terrorism with more vigor.
Talking to reporters after taking this pledge along with other security forces including police personnel on National Anti-Terrorism Day at District Police Line Srinagar.
IGP Kashmir said that it is not difficult for police personnel or other security forces deployed in the Kashmir Valley to kill a terrorist is. But we want to end terrorism, not terrorists.
Our aim is not to kill terrorists: Many youths of the Kashmir Valley are coming under the pretext of terrorist groups and picking up guns. This is the reason for their concern.
He is the son of Kashmir, we do not want his shot to extinguish the lamp of a house. They are striving to bring these wandering youth back to the mainstream.
This is the reason why he repeatedly gives opportunity to the surrendered terrorists surrounded in the encounter.
If he were to kill the terrorists, it would take him a few minutes to end any encounter but he wants the local youth on the path of terrorism to get a chance to sit among their families again.
For this reason, the encounter lasts for two to three hours or more. Many times their families are also brought to the encounter site to convince the youth.
When all their efforts fail, they are forced to kill the terrorists. Several steps have been taken to stop the local youth from going on the path of terrorism. This requires more hard work.
In response to a question about the recruitment of local terrorists, the IGP said that work is being done to prevent local youth from engaging in terrorism.
A vast network of overground workers working in various districts of the valley has been busted for terrorists.
In this regard, the action of police and other security forces is still going on. Terrorist organizations have suffered a lot due to the demolition of the OGW network.
The IGP said that the second wave of Covid has stopped the campaign launched by them to bring terrorized local youth into the mainstream.
We had taken measures that included sports activities, cultural programs, and other programs to bring the youth into the mainstream. We will resume these activities after the Covid epidemic subsides.
