Over 100 Arrested For Attack On Durga Puja Pandals In Bangladesh

Over 100 arrested for attack on Durga Puja pandals in Bangladesh.

The Bangladeshi government has tightened security at Durga Puja celebrations following incidents of violence at puja pandals and vandalism in temples.

More than a hundred people have been arrested in connection with the violence. This has alerted Bangladesh’s police administration and paramilitary forces across Bangladesh.

In addition, 18 country-made bombs have been recovered at a Hindu temple in Khulna, Bangladesh.

Over 100 arrested for attack: Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said those who attacked Hindu temples and Durga Puja pandals would not be spared at any cost.

The situation is still grim after attacks and violence on Durga Puja pandals in Bangladesh’s Chalet, Bandarban, Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Chandpur, and Ghazipur on Thursday, Dhaka Tribune reported.

The government has assured the security of the Hindu community in the country and said that Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) forces have been deployed in 22 districts of Bangladesh.

Director of BGB Operations Lt. Col. Farzur Rahman said that on the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, more than a hundred people who vandalized Hindu temples have been arrested.

He said that all efforts were being made to maintain communal harmony in the country.

Bangladesh Interior Minister Asadduzman Khan said that several people involved in the Kumliya incident have been identified and some of the suspects instigating it have also been arrested.

He will continue his arrest to get to the bottom of the incident. The interrogation of the arrested persons is on.

It is noteworthy that this incident of communal violence took place after internet media was accused of insulting the Holy Quran at a puja pandal of Nanour Dighi.

However, there is still a possibility of violence as Bangladesh security forces have found 18 country-made bombs near the gate of a Hindu temple in Khulna district.

These live bombs were confiscated at 5.30 pm. It was later destroyed by the Rapid Action Battalion by moving it to a safer location.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said anyone involved in the attacks on Hindu temples and Durga Puja pandals would not be spared.

She warned the perpetrators of this communal violence and said that the incidents in Kamila are under investigation.

While attending a program at Dhakeshwari temple in Dhaka on the occasion of Durga Puja, he said that the incident of Kamila is very unfortunate.
