Big blow to tourism, 12 lakh bookings cancelled; Tourists scared after terrorist attack. The tourist season was at its peak in Srinagar but due to the Baisaran incident, tourism has suffered a major setback. According to the Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Association, tourists have cancelled 12 lakh advance bookings till August. Travellers are cancelling their trips due to security reasons, which is causing loss to tourism. Tourists are giving priority to their safety.
The Baisaran incident has brought the tourist season, which was at its peak in the valley, to a screeching halt. Due to the incident, 12 lakh bookings have been cancelled by tourists.
Revealing this, Babar Choudhary, President of the Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Association, said that 12 lakh tourists, including foreign tourists, who wanted to visit the valley till August, had made bookings in the hotels and guest houses of the valley till August.
But immediately after this incident, tourists started cancelling their bookings, and by this evening, these bookings were cancelled.
Babar said that although some of these bookings, which were for the last week of this month, i.e., April and the first week of May, were cancelled by the tourists due to the landslide in Ramban a few days ago. But immediately after the Baisaran incident on Tuesday evening, the process of cancelling the rest of the bookings started, which is continuing.
Babar said that this year we were assuming that tourists would break all the previous records, because the winter season had also gone well in terms of the number of tourists and now at the beginning of the spring season also a good crowd of tourists had come here.
Meanwhile, with 8.5 lakh tourists visiting our tulip garden during the only 26 days it was open, we were sure that our summer season would also break records, and we had also done complete planning for this so that tourists do not face any problem regarding accommodation and food.

Now that the administration has arranged for special trains and extra flights for the tourists stranded here, we can only pray that the situation improves soon so that tourists can again come here without any fear.
