Pegasus Matter: Hearing held in Supreme Court, Center got 10 days for an appointment in Tribunal.
The Pegasus matter was heard in the Supreme Court on Monday. The Center has been given ten days to make appointments to the tribunal.
The Center has filed an affidavit in the court. The Center has said in the affidavit that it will constitute a committee of experts to investigate the matter.
The Center told the court that there was nothing to hide in the Pegasus espionage case and it would constitute a committee of experts to look into all aspects.
The Center said that this matter is very technical, for which it is necessary to have experts for investigation.
Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for journalists N Ram and Sasikumar, who filed the petition for investigation in the matter, said the affidavit does not reveal whether the government or its agency used the spyware.
The affidavit was filed before a bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana and Justices Surya Kant and Aniruddha Bose.
The Central Government said that IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has already given an explanation in Parliament regarding the alleged Pegasus espionage case.
In the court, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta read out some portions of the affidavit in which all those allegations have been denied.
The solicitor read, ‘A web portal has published some unconfirmed things to create sensation before the start of the Parliament session.
Still, we want to set up a committee of impartial technical experts to clear the situation. The Solicitor General said, ‘The NSO Group, which made Pegasus, has said that it did not sell spyware to India.
Its clients are mainly in western countries. Still, the government wants to form a committee showing goodwill. I don’t know what the petitioners want after all.
