Pentagon Admits Its Mistake Regarding US Drone Strike In Kabul

Pentagon admits its mistake regarding the US drone strike in Kabul.

The Pentagon on Friday admitted its mistake in the drone strike that killed several civilians in Afghanistan last month.

It announced that a review showed that only civilians were killed in the attack and not Islamic State terrorists, as previously believed.

The head of US Central Command, Marine General Frank McKenzie, told a Pentagon news conference that the attack was a mistake.

Pentagon officials had been justifying this attack on August 28 for several days. Despite the killing of 10 civilians, including seven children, in this attack, it was being claimed that it was carried out correctly.

Pentagon admits its mistake: Revenge was taken within 48 hours.

In fact, America took revenge for the suicide attack on Kabul airport within 48 hours. On August 28, the US military in Afghanistan took major action against the perpetrators of the attack.

The US carried out a drone strike on ISIS-K bases in Afghanistan. A suicide bombing at Kabul airport killed 169 Afghan and 13 American soldiers.

Captain Bill Urban, a spokesman for the US Central Command, said that US military forces launched an anti-terrorist operation against the planners of ISIS-K.

The unmanned airstrikes were carried out in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

After the Islamic State attack in Kabul, US President Joe Biden held a meeting with the national security adviser, military officials, and diplomats.

In the same meeting, advisers told him that there could be more terrorist attacks in Kabul and the remaining days of his evacuation operation were extremely risky.

ISIS attack in eastern Iraq, three Iraqi soldiers killed.

Three Iraqi soldiers have been killed in an attack by the Islamic State group in eastern Iraq.

A local security source said three Iraqi soldiers were killed and two others wounded in attacks by militants of the extremist Islamic State (IS) group in Iraq’s eastern province of Diyala.

Iraqi army posts are located in the Udim region, about 60 km north of the provincial capital Bakuba.

Mohamed al-Obaidi, of local tribal militias, said three soldiers were killed and two others wounded in the attacks.

Despite repeated military operations in Diyala, IS militants still hide in rugged areas near the border with Iran.

Also hidden in the areas extending from the western part of Diyala to the Himreen mountainous area. The security situation in Iraq is improving.

It has improved since Iraqi security forces completely defeated IS militants across the country in late 2017.
