Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Odisha and West Bengal on Friday to review the impact of cyclonic storm YAAS.

Cyclone YAAS has wreaked havoc in West Bengal and Odisha. PM Modi will take stock of the damage caused by cyclone YAAS.

PM Modi’s meeting with Odisha CM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Bhubaneswar and held a meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the impact of cyclone YAAS.

After this, PM visited Balasore, Bhadrak, and Puraba. He will go to the affected areas of Medinipur for an aerial survey and will hold a review meeting in Bengal.

Mamta will also be involved in the review meeting.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will also attend a review meeting with PM Modi.

She will meet PM Modi at Kalaikunda Air Force Station and is likely to discuss issues related to the damage caused by the cyclone during this time.

Earlier, PM Narendra Modi held a meeting in Delhi to review the impact of cyclone YAAS. Officials shared detailed information on various aspects of preparedness, assessment of damages, and related matters.

The meeting was informed that about 106 teams of NDRF were deployed in West Bengal and Odisha with 46 teams.

They rescued more than a thousand people and removed more than 2500 trees and poles, which fell on the roads and were obstructed.

The army and the Coast Guard, also known as the Defense Forces, rescued the stranded people, while the Navy and Air Force were on alert. Cyclone ‘YAAS’ hit the eastern coasts of the country on Wednesday.

YAAS caused havoc in Odisha, West Bengal, and Jharkhand. More than 21 lakh people have been evacuated to safe places in the three states.

At the same time, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has claimed that about three lakh houses in Bengal have been damaged by the YAAS Cyclone.

Let us tell you that cyclonic storm YAAS has weakened into a ‘deep depression’ in the Bay of Bengal and it is likely to move northwestwards and weaken gradually during the next 12 hours.

The meteorological department said the cyclone is likely to move northwestward and gradually weaken during the next 12 hours.

Due to the storm, light to moderate rains will occur over most parts of Odisha in the next 12 hours and heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at some places in the northern interior state.
