Police Bus Attacked in Srinagar on the Anniversary of Parliament Attack, Two Soldiers Martyred, 14 Injured; Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought information.

On Monday evening, on the 20th anniversary of the Parliament attack, terrorists attacked a bus carrying Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police Force personnel at Panth Chowk, the gateway of Srinagar.

The terrorists surrounded the bus and fired indiscriminately from two sides.

In this attack, two policemen including an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Jammu and Kashmir Police were martyred and 14 other policemen were injured.

Of these, the condition of two remains critical. One terrorist was also injured in retaliatory action.

To nab the escaped terrorists, the police along with the army and CRPF have cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation.

The attack took place about 10 km from Lithpora in Pulwama district, where 40 jawans were killed in a suicide attack on a CRPF convoy on February 14, 2019.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences to the kin of the martyred policemen, condemning the attack in the strongest terms.

He has asked the Jammu and Kashmir government for complete information about the terrorist attack. The Prime Minister’s Office has also made a tweet in this regard.

Meanwhile, a terrorist organization named Kashmir Tigers has claimed responsibility for the attack. This organization is also considered as the shadow organization and hit squad of Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Jaish’s suicide terrorist squad attacked the Parliament House on 13 December 2001. Then the five attackers were killed in retaliation by the security forces.

While Ghazibaba, the main architect of the attack, was killed two years later in an encounter in Srinagar, the conspirator Afzal Guru was hanged on February 9, 2013.

After the death of Afzal Guru, Jaish had also formed two hit squads named Afzal Guru Brigade and Afzal Guru Squad.

The attack in Srinagar on Monday is also being seen by linking it with the anniversary of the Parliament attack.

This is how the attack happened: This attack happened at around six in the evening.

Jawans of the Ninth Corps of the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police Force were on their way back to their headquarters at Jewan after a day-long law and order duty in Srinagar.

When the police vehicle reached Aripora near Pantha Chowk in Jeevan, the terrorists hiding in the crowd of vehicles and people present there attacked the bus.

The terrorists first allegedly lobbed a grenade and after that, they surrounded the bus with their automatic weapons and started firing indiscriminately from two sides.

This caused a stampede in the entire market there. The terrorists also opened fire on the tires of the bus.

Meanwhile, some policemen, while protecting themselves, retaliated against the terrorists from inside the bus, but the terrorists escaped from there.

Meanwhile, police, army, and CRPF personnel patrolling the nearby area after hearing gunshots also reached the spot.

They surrounded the entire area, taking all the injured policemen in the bus to a nearby hospital for treatment.

On receiving the information, senior officers of police, army, and CRPF also reached the spot. Meanwhile, the doctors in the hospital have declared Assistant Sub Inspector Ghulam Hasan dead.

Apart from them, an injured selection grade constable Shafiq Ali also attained martyrdom after some time.
