Prophet Remark Row: Curfew Lifted For The Day In Bhaderwah

Prophet Remark Row: Educational institutions opened in Bhaderwah after 10 days, and the curfew for the day was also lifted.

Educational institutions closed after 10 days in Bhaderwah of District Doda of Jammu division were opened on Monday. A large number of students reached the school.

Things are normal in the town now. The day-long curfew has also been lifted in the city as no untoward incident was reported in the last 24 hours.

The market is also looking bright as before. The administration has decided to continue the night curfew in the town till further orders.

Let us tell you that after the objectionable remarks made by former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma on Prophet Hazrat Muhammad, communal tension had arisen in Bhaderwah.

In view of this, the administration had announced a curfew here on June 9.

Now seeing the situation becoming normal, the administration opened all government schools and other educational institutions in Bhaderwah on Monday after 10 days of the bandh.

Children studying in these schools also happily came to study in the schools. The attendance of children and teachers in schools was also good on the first day.

Mobile internet services are still suspended in the city. However, fixed-line internet services were restored on Sunday.

Officials said that once again a meeting of senior people of the town, police, and other administrative officers will be called regarding the situation.

In the same meeting, the idea of starting mobile internet services will be taken up. If everyone agrees, then very soon mobile internet service will also be started.

Prophet Remark Row: The administration is keeping a close watch on the internet media.

ADC Bhaderwah Dil Mir also issued an advisory last Sunday, warning of strict action against those sharing “objectionable content” on internet media.

Let us tell you that after Nupur Sharma’s remark, a Muslim community leader made a provocative speech at a mosque in Bhaderwah which went viral on the internet media.

In view of the increasing tension in Doda-Kishtwar including Bhaderwah, the administration had to impose a curfew as a precaution. Curfew was imposed in Bhaderwah on June 9.

Seeing the situation getting better, the administration first relaxed for two hours on June 15, then for five hours on June 16 in two phases, and on June 17 for four hours.

At present, even though the day curfew has been completely lifted in Bhaderwah, police and security forces have been deployed in large numbers in the town to maintain law and order.
