A student who made objectionable comments on social media regarding the Pulwama terror attack in the year 2019 has been sentenced to 5 years imprisonment.

A special court in Bangalore pronounced the sentence on Tuesday.

25 thousand rupees will have to be fined.

A special court here sentenced the 22-year-old student to five years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.

Actually, the said student had made derogatory comments on a Facebook post after the Pulwama terror attack in 2019.

Judge Gangadhar heard the case.

Judge Gangadhar C M pronounced this sentence in court on Tuesday.

The accused Faiz Rashid was 19 years old at that time and was studying in the college. He was in police custody for three and a half years.

Faiz Rashid was jailed in 2019.

This terrorist attack took place in Pulwama on February 14, 2019.

Rashid, who is serving a sentence in jail since 2019, had allegedly created a Facebook account for the purpose of posting objectionable comments on the terror attack.

A complaint was made at the Banaswadi police station against Rashid’s post on social media.

Rashid, a student of electronics at a reputed engineering college in Bengaluru, has been serving his sentence in Parappana Agrahara Central Jail since February 17, 2019.

The account had to be deleted after criticism from users.

There was a lot of criticism from users for indecent posts and comments on Facebook, in which Bengaluru Police was also tagged.

It was only after this that Rashid started getting scared of the police and he also deleted this account.

AFSPA: AFSPA can be removed from two more places in Assam, 65 percent of areas have already been withdrawn

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that the Assam government is contemplating withdrawing the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from at least two more places in the state.

In a program organized to provide financial assistance for the rehabilitation of surrendered militants, he claimed that peace has returned in Assam and North East and AFSPA has already been withdrawn from 65 percent areas of the state.

“We are contemplating removing AFSPA from Lakhipur sub-division of Cachar district and the entire Karbi Anglong area,” the chief minister said.

He further said that after the withdrawal of AFSPA from two more areas, the law will be effective only in six districts of Upper Assam.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said, ‘Assam has seen a lot of bloodsheds. Now it is our duty to stop this and develop the state.

He indicated that the Assam government is contemplating launching an ambitious scheme to provide employment opportunities to the unemployed youth.
