Why the dispute happened.
Actually, this dispute is about the entry into the Shrikshetra temple of Alandi.
It is alleged that Varkari devotees were trying to forcefully enter the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Samadhi Temple while taking out a procession in Alandi town, a short distance from Pune.
Police say that according to the schedule, strict security arrangements were made here and only 75 people could enter the temple at a time, but 400 people started going together.
Protesting this, some people tried to forcefully enter. Because of which he got into an altercation with the police.
After this the matter reached a scuffle and the opposition also accused the police of lathicharge. However, the police say that they did not lathicharge.
Who is Varkari Bhakt.
Varkari devotees are called devotees of Lord Vitthal (a form of Lord Krishna). Warkari is also a tradition of Hinduism, which is associated with Maharashtra and northern Karnataka.
The word ‘Varkari’ is derived from ‘Vari’, which means to travel and travel. Those who make frequent pilgrimages to their place of faith in a devotional manner are called Varkari.
Costumes are different.
The costumes of the Varkari devotees are also different. Devotees wear dhoti, angarkha, uparna and cap along with saffron colored cloth on the shoulder and tulsi garland around the neck.
Many people travel with Veena in hand and taking the name of Hari. Varkaris also apply sandalwood on the forehead, neck, chest and ears.

The opposition has attacked the government over the controversy.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said the BJP and Shinde have a Hindutva government, that’s why the workers were lathicharged. Be ready to face the guns tomorrow.
On the other hand, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said that the Varkaris had an argument with the police, but the police did not lathicharge them.
