After more than a year, Sania Mirza, who was taking part in the first tournament, was knocked out. Sania and her Slovenia partner Andreja Klepek suffered a loss in the women’s doubles semi-final of the Qatar Total Open on Thursday.
Sania and their Slovenia partner were eliminated from the tournament against American Nicole Mellischer and Demi Shurs of the Netherlands.
The match was extremely thorny and there was an on-court struggle between the duo for an hour and 28 minutes. The match, which lasted three sets, was eventually won by the pair of Mellischer and Demi Shurs.
Qatar Open 2021: The first set was decided by a tie-breaker and Sania lost 5-7 here. After this, she made a great comeback with his partner and won the next set 6–2, and achieved parity.
The third set was even more thorny but she could not win here. The result was a 5–10 defeat and his dream of reaching the final was shattered.
Sania is returning to the tour after recovering from covid-19 recently. This was the first Indian player’s tournament since February last year and he teamed up with Andreja to challenge the world number 11 and number 12 players.
Sania and Andreja each got 185 ranking points from this performance. Sania’s ranking will improve with these points. Sania is expected to make it to the top 200. She can rise from 254 to 177 position
The international tennis tournament will begin in Dehradun on March 6, players from these countries will also participate.
Uttaranchal Lawn Tennis Association is organizing the Om Farm Open Uttarakhand International Tennis Federation tournament at Shanti Tennis Academy, Doon from March 6 to 13.
Players from the United States, Russia, Japan, Thailand, Nepal, France, Ukraine, Portugal, and other countries will participate in this tournament along with India. In the tournament, players of Uttarakhand will be given wild card entry.

Uttaranchal Lawn Tennis Association General Secretary Vijendra Singh Chauhan said that the competition will be held from 6 to 13 March at Shanti Tennis Academy.
Told that the tournament was proposed last year, but due to Corona, it is being organized this year. Keeping in mind the Corona transition all the rules for the tournament are being taken care of.
Players can register via phone from the referee to participate in the tournament. There is no need to come to court for this. Told that four of the Indian players on the top-10 list will play in this tournament.
