Ramnaresh Sarwan Got A Big Responsibility In CWI

Ramnaresh Sarwan got a big responsibility in West Indies cricket, he will be seen in the role of the selector.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced the appointment of former West Indies captain Ramnaresh Sarwan as the selector of the West Indies men’s senior and youth team.

The selection teams are led by Desmond Haynes and Robert Haynes respectively. Ramnaresh Sarwan is a former West Indies captain who has played international cricket for over a decade.

His appointment was confirmed during a meeting of CWI’s board of directors on Thursday, 6 January.

He will step down from his current role as chairman of the Guyana Cricket Board’s senior selection panel to focus on this role and avoid conflicts of interest.

Ricky Skerritt, CWI President, said, “I am pleased to confirm that Ramnaresh Sarwan has agreed to accept the position of the selector on CWI’s Men’s Senior and Youth Panel.

He knows what it takes for our youth to succeed at the international level. The Board of Directors is confident that Sarwan will give a lot to the cricket system.

Ramnaresh Sarwan said, “I would like to thank CWI and all those involved for giving me the opportunity to serve West Indies cricket again as a member of the selection panel.

I am passionate about the game of cricket and West Indies cricket in particular and I will not hesitate to contribute towards it.

I look forward to working with my colleagues, Desmond Haynes and Robert Haynes, and the two head coaches, as well as everyone involved in the development of the game.’

Sarwan will be a member of the Men’s Senior and Youth Selection Panels until 30 June 2024.

During which four ICC Global Events, two T20 World Cups (2022 and 2024), Cricket World Cup (2023), and the World Test Championship final ( 2023) will be held.

Sarwan played 81 Test matches, 181 One Day Internationals, and 18 T20 Internationals for the West Indies between 2000 and 2013. He scored 5842 runs in Tests, including 15 centuries.

Scored 5804 runs in ODIs, including five centuries. He was a member of the West Indies team that won the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy in 2004.
