Resistance Force claims 600 Taliban fighters were eliminated in Panjshir: Afghanistan.

Fighting between the Taliban and the National Resistance Force continues in Afghanistan’s northeastern province of Panjshir.

Sputnik quoted the Resistance Force as saying that 600 Taliban militants had been killed in the fighting.

Faheem Dashti, the spokesman for the Resistance Force, tweeted, “Around 600 Taliban have been eliminated since morning in various districts of Panjshir.

Over 1,000 Taliban have been captured or surrendered. The spokesman further said that the Taliban are unable to get supplies from other Afghan provinces.

Meanwhile, the Taliban’s offensive against the Panjshir Resistance Force has slowed down due to the presence of landmines in the area.

A Taliban source said fighting was ongoing in Panjshir, but landmines leading to the capital Bazarak and the provincial governor’s compound were making it difficult to advance.

Panjshir is a stronghold of the National Resistance Force, which is led by Ahmed Masood, son of the late former Afghan guerrilla commander Ahmed Shah Masood, and former Afghanistan Vice President Amrullah Saleh, who has declared himself acting president.

“The situation is difficult, we have been attacked,” Saleh said in a video message. The resistance is on and will continue.
