Retired HC Judges to supervise the investigation of the Lakhimpur Kheri case: Supreme Court proposes to investigate the case under the supervision of retired High Court(HC) judges.

The Supreme Court says that to ensure that there is no mixing of evidence in the case, we are inclined to appoint a former judge of a separate High Court to oversee the investigation of the case.

On October 26, the counsel appearing for the state government had told the bench, “Of the 68 witnesses, the statements of 30 have been recorded under section 164 of CrPC and the statements of some others will also be recorded.” Out of these 30 witnesses, 23 have claimed to be eyewitnesses.
