Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and its UK partner company BP Plc announced on Monday the start of production of gas in the second cluster of the Deep Water Gas field KG-D6 block.

Reliance-BP has issued a statement announcing the commencement of production from the satellite cluster. In December last year, these two companies announced to start production from the R cluster.

The statement issued by the companies said that despite the challenges related to Kovid-19, production has started in the satellite cluster two months ahead of schedule.

Reliance-BP is developing three deep-water gas developments in KG-D6. These three facilities are the R cluster, satellite cluster, and MJ.

It has been expected that by these three clusters, the production of natural gas of 30 million standard cubic meters per day will start by 2023. This will fulfill the country’s demand for gas by 15 percent.

Under these developments, it will be helpful to use all the pre-existing hub infrastructure in the KG-D6 block.

RIL And BP Announced To Start The Production Of Gas: Reliance is producing gas in the block with a share of 66.67 percent and BP 33.33 percent.

The satellite cluster is the second such cluster from where production has commenced after the commencement of production from the R cluster in December. Production in this cluster was to begin in mid-2021.

This field is 60 km from the already existing terminal in Kakinada. Production is expected to begin in the second half of 2022 at KG D6’s third development MJ.
