Ruckus in Karnataka for putting up posters of Savarkar and Tipu, Section 144 imposed; school-college closed.

Two youths were attacked with a knife on Monday in Shimoga’s Amir Ahmed circle over a dispute over putting up posters of freedom fighter Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan.

The injured youths have been identified as Prem Singh and Praveen. The youth is undergoing treatment.

The situation is tense after the stabbing incident. In view of the tension in the area, Section 144 has been imposed on the entire city. At the same time, a large number of police forces have been deployed.

The Collector of Shivamogga has ordered the closure of schools and colleges in the city and Bhadravati town limits on Tuesday.

The Collector said that Section 144 will remain in force in both these places till August 18.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the incident should not have happened. I have ordered strict action against those trying to disturb the peace.

10 people were detained.

Additional forces have been deployed in the area. Prohibitory orders have been imposed in the city till August 18. 10 people have been detained. The search has been started for the knife-wielding miscreants.

During the 76th Independence Day celebrations, a group tried to put up a poster of Savarkar on the high mast light pole in the circle. Some people opposed this and tried to put a poster of Tipu Sultan there.

This created a tense situation in the area. People from both sides had gathered in large numbers. The police had to lathi-charge to control the situation.

Later the authorities put up the national flag at that place. The BJP demonstrated and demanded that the posters of Savarkar be allowed to be put up.

TRS leader killed minutes after hoisting tricolor in Telangana, section 144 imposed in the area

TRS leader Tammineni Krishnaiah was killed by four unidentified persons shortly after hoisting the national flag at a village in Khammam district in Telangana on Monday.

Seeing the increasing tension in the area after this incident, the police officials imposed Section 144 in the area.

According to the police, Telangana Rashtriya Samithi leader Tammineni Krishnaiah was attacked and killed by four unidentified persons in Teldarupalli village of Khammam rural Mandal.

The incident took place when the TRS leader was returning from the national flag hoisting ceremony on Monday morning.

According to the Assistant Commissioner of Police of Khammam district, Tammineni Krishnaiah was returning on his bike after hoisting the national flag.

At the entrance of Teldarupalli village, four men in an auto rickshaw attacked him and fled leaving him covered in blood
