Ruckus in Tamil Nadu over job advertisement for Hindus only.

An advertisement by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department inviting only Hindus for various posts in its college has created a ruckus in the state.

Many individuals and organizations have come out against it.

This advertisement appeared in various publications on 13 October for various academic and non-academic positions for Arulmigu Kapaleeswarar Arts and Science College, Kolathur.

Ruckus in Tamil Nadu: It states that these posts are only for Hindus.

The HR&CE department is opening four new arts and science colleges including Kapaleeswarar College at Kolathur from 2021-22.

As per the advertisement, Walk-in-Interview is going on for the post of Assistant Professor for teaching B.Com, BBA, B.Sc Computer Science, BCA, Tamil, English, Maths as well as Director of Physical Education and Librarian posts.

K Pandian, former president of the Association of University Teachers, said such an advertisement has come to the fore that posts are reserved only for Hindus.

He further said that the government-run department cannot discriminate on the basis of religion and disqualify candidates from other religions.

HR & CE Minister PK Shekhar Babu’s comment on the matter could not be reached.
