Russia accuses US companies of interfering in elections, summons Ambassador John Sullivan.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday that it has summoned US Ambassador John Sullivan to meet with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

Russia has accused US technology companies of interfering in the September parliamentary elections.

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying it had strong evidence that large US-based technology companies violated Russian laws ahead of the upcoming elections.

Russia accuses US companies: Russia, however, did not specify which companies they were and what they violated.

To recall, Russia said earlier this month that it would treat Apple and Google’s refusal to remove Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny’s app from its online store as election interference.

In fact, Navalny and his allies are promoting a strategic voting plan in which they are asking their supporters to support candidates who can defeat the ruling United Russia party.
