Russia bans Ukraine’s proposal in the United Nations, will call an emergency meeting regarding US laboratories.

Russia has halted its call to vote on a draft resolution on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine over a lack of support and will instead call an emergency meeting to address US bio-labs in the war-torn country.

The UN Security Council will no longer vote on Russian draft calls for aid access and civil protection in Ukraine.

Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, said during a meeting of the Security Council on Thursday, “We have, at this stage, withheld the decision to seek votes on our draft, but we are not withdrawing the draft resolution.”

Instead, tomorrow morning, we will ask for an emergency meeting to be called again to discuss the issue of US laboratories in Ukraine.

Sputnik, citing a draft resolution released on Tuesday, said a Russian UN Security Council resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in Ukraine so that civilians can be evacuated.

The UNSC held a special session on Thursday (local time) to discuss the humanitarian situation in Ukraine following requests from six countries, including the US, Britain, France, Albania, Ireland, and Norway.

India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations TS Tirumurti said that India is still concerned over the deteriorating situation due to civilian casualties in Ukraine.

There is an urgent need to meet the humanitarian needs of the affected population, he said. We support the initiative of the United Nations.
