The hearing on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) case was to be held in the Supreme Court on September 12, but it was postponed due to lack of time.

The petitions against the CAA were first heard on 18 December 2019. The last time was on 15 June 2021.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a plea seeking a probe into the exodus and killings of Kashmiri Pandits.

The top court has allowed the petitioner to withdraw the petition and seek an appropriate remedy.

The petition was filed by Ashutosh Taplu, whose father Tika Lal Taplu was killed by a JKLF terrorist at that time.

The Supreme Court is about to pronounce its verdict on a suo motu petition related to the ‘framing of guidelines regarding potentially mitigating circumstances while implementing the death penalty.

A bench headed bySIT Probe In Killingshad on August 17 reserved its verdict.

The bench said that the death penalty is irreversible and the accused should be given every opportunity to consider the mitigating circumstances
