The Army launched a search and rescue operation on Sunday to locate the missing person after an avalanche hit the high altitude area along the LAC in the Tawang sector in the West Kameng district.

“The bodies of all the seven jawans have been recovered from the avalanche site,” an official said.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of everyone involved in the campaign, all seven people have been confirmed dead.

“The bodies of the army personnel are being taken from the spot to the nearest military hospital to complete further formalities,” he said. All of them were soldiers of 19 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.
