The Seventh Shakti military exercise between India and France starts today, and defense relations between the two countries will be strengthened.

India and France will start the seventh edition of the joint military exercise ‘Shakti’ to strengthen defense ties on Monday.

This exercise will continue till May 26 in the Umroi area of Meghalaya. Earlier, Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) Anil Chauhan had visited France from 22 to 25 April.

The Indian Army said that this exercise aims to enhance both sides’ joint military capability.

Apart from this, the joint exercise will develop interoperability and cordial relations between the armed forces of both countries.

The sixth edition was held at the Military School of Draguignan, France.

The sixth edition of the India-France joint military exercise EX Shakti 2021 took place at the Military School of Draguignan, France in November 2021.

The Indian Army was represented in the exercise by a combined team of three officers, three junior commissioned officers, and 37 personnel from Gorkha Rifles and Support Arms.

Manipur Violence: Conflict continues in Manipur, four policemen kidnapped in Kangpokpi; two accused arrested

Manipur Police on Sunday arrested two people belonging to the Meitei organization ‘Arambai Tenggol’ for kidnapping and attacking four policemen posted at Kangpokpi police station.

According to authorities, the four officers were kidnapped on Saturday night while traveling from Imphal to Kangpokpi on National Highway-2 in the Imphal East district.

The kidnapped policemen have been identified as Ram Bahadur Karki, Ramesh Budhathoki, Manoj Khatiwoda, and Mohammed Taj Khan.

Search operation continues to rescue kidnapped policemen.

The police officer said the accused Taibanganba Sanoujam and Moirangthem Bobo were arrested on Sunday.

A search operation is underway to rescue the kidnapped policemen and arrest other accused involved in the incident.
