Sharjeel Was Involved In The Conspiracy Of Delhi Riots

Sharjeel was involved in the conspiracy of Delhi riots, Despite his arrest before the riots: Prosecution.

Arguments took place in Karkardooma Court on Thursday on the bail application of Sharjeel Imam, a JNU student arrested in connection with the Delhi riots conspiracy.

The defense and prosecution presented their arguments in the court of Additional Sessions, Judge Amitabh Rawat.

Advocate Tanveer Ahmed Mir, appearing for Sharjeel, said that the riots in Delhi took place in February 2020, while the police arrested Sharjeel in January 2020.

Sharjeel was involved in the conspiracy: In such a situation, it is not possible that after the arrest, there is a conspiracy to riot.

Special Public Prosecutor Amit Prasad referred to Sharjeel’s involvement in protest against the application, referring to various incidents in early December 2019.

Giving an example, he said that when a cricket team plays, every player has his own importance. The fall of one wicket does not mean that the team’s intention to win the game is over.

The prosecution said that Sharjeel’s arrest did not mean that he had given up the entire plot of the riots.

Referring to the WhatsApp chat of Sharjeel and his associates, he said that in protest against the CAA, Khureji and other places including Shaheen Bagh had been targeted.

After hearing both sides, the court has reserved its decision on the application.

The Special Public Prosecutor said that on December 13, 2019, Sharjeel gave a speech at Jamia Millia and the next day had a meeting regarding the Chakka Jam conspiracy.

In a meeting held at a Dhaba in JNU, it was decided to plan ahead and involve PFI and other organizations.

Sharjeel visited Jamia and after that, there were riots, in which ten policemen were injured and three buses were burnt.

He argued that the imam had walked out of the ongoing protest at Shaheen Bagh as part of the plan.

At the same time, Sharjeel’s lawyer questioned the prosecution that Sharjeel has been held responsible for the conspiracy to riot, is there any evidence of this, which tells that there was a conspiracy to kill during the riots.

The defense said that even the farmers had done the wheel and road blockade.

Due to their protest, the Prime Minister had to come on TV and announce the withdrawal of agricultural laws.
