Six Members Of Sanatan Sanstha Acquitted In Goa Blast Case

Six members of Sanatan Sanstha acquitted in Goa blast conspiracy case: Goa Blast Case. The Goa bench of Bombay High Court on Saturday acquitted six members of Sanatan Sanstha (Goa Headquarters) in the Goa conspiracy case.

Earlier, the special court has also declared all these people innocent. Sanatan Sanstha has termed the High Court verdict a slap in the face of those who propagate the falsehood of saffron terrorism. On October 16, 2009, two members of Sanatan Sanstha Malgonda Patil and Yogesh Naik died in a blast at a Diwali pandal.

Initially, the case was investigated by the Goa Police, who accused six members of Sanatan Sanstha, Goa, as believing it to be an IED blast. The investigation of the case was later handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). In this case, 11 persons were accused of involvement in the conspiracy to explode, including two deceased.

Three people are still absconding. Earlier, a special court in Goa had accused Vinay Talekar, Dhananjay Ashtekar, Prashant Ashtekar, Vinayak Patil, Prashant Juvekar, and Dilip Mazgaonkar as innocent, accusing the NIA of manipulating facts to implicate six persons from Sanatan Sanstha.

The NIA’s decision in the special court was challenged in the High Court. NIA lawyer Pravin Faladesai said after the High Court verdict that we wanted to prove the purpose of Sanatan Sanstha to carry out this blast to spread terror in Goa and all over India, but the court gave the benefit of doubt to the accused acquitted.

At the same time, Sanatan Sanstha national spokesperson Chetan Rajhans expressed happiness over the decision that the then Congress government of Goa had tried to implicate six innocent seekers of Sanatan Sanstha in the Madgaon blast case.

After four years of incarceration, all these seekers were acquitted by the special court. While hearing the appeal related to this, the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court upheld the decision. We welcome this decision of the court.
