Six New Transit Colonies Will Developed In Kashmir For DKPE

Six new transit colonies will be developed in Kashmir for displaced Kashmiri Pandit employees.

Six new transit colonies will be developed in six districts for displaced Kashmiri Pandit employees in the Kashmir Valley. 1680 quarters will be built in these colonies at a cost of 201 crores.

STPs will also be set up in each colony for waste disposal.

Construction of any colony in the proposed colonies will be started only after completing all necessary administrative, legal, and revenue related concepts.

The state administration has also constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department to identify land for these colonies and transfer it to Disaster Management.

Relief and Rehabilitation Department. The committee has been asked to complete its work by 15 November 2020.

The largest colony in the proposed colonies will be constructed at Aduna Sumbal in Bandipore district at a cost of 57.60 crores. 480 quarters will be built in it.

Transit colony based at 336 quarters at Fatehpera in Baramulla will be built at Kulangam Bagh in Kupwara, at a cost of Rs 40.32 crore. 34.56 crores will be spent on this.

Colonies will be built on 192-192 islanders in Marhama of Anantnag, Bijbehada, Vandaham Laar of Ganderbal, and Alopora Keegan in Shopian and will cost 23.04 crores each.

Construction of proposed colonies has received administrative approval

Officials associated with the Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation Department said that the construction of the proposed colonies has received administrative approval.

The decision to construct these colonies was taken in the meeting of the State Administrative Council held on 31 October.

All these colonies are being prepared with the intention of providing a safe transit residential facility to the displaced Kashmiri Pandits seeking government jobs in the employment package announced under PMDP-2015.

The Prime Minister’s Development Program announced in the year 2015.

Until the situation becomes completely normal in the Valley, the Kashmiri Pandit workers who get a job under the Prime Minister’s Employment Package to return to Kashmir will get a free residential facility in these colonies.

These quarters will have one and two bedrooms facilities.
