Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for CBI, told the bench that it is in everyone’s interest that all the cases against him be probed by the central probe agency

. Earlier, the bench had allowed Mumbai Police to conduct a probe against Parambir Singh but stayed the filing of charge sheet against him on corruption charges.

Senior advocate Puneet Bali, appearing for the former Mumbai Police Commissioner, told the bench on the last date of hearing that the former Mumbai Police Commissioner was being targeted and the state government was trying to foil the investigation.

Cases were registered against Parambir Singh on charges of corruption and extortion and the top court had sought the opinion of the CBI to probe the cases, as they are already linked to cases under the investigation of the central agency.
