Supreme Court To Hear On Lakhimpur Kheri Violence

Supreme Court to hear on Lakhimpur Kheri violence tomorrow, took suo motu cognizance of the matter.

The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.

The apex court bench comprising Chief Justice NV Ramana, Justice Surya Kant, and Justice Hima Kohli will hear the matter tomorrow.

Earlier, two lawyers had written a letter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for conducting a CBI inquiry into the matter under the supervision of the apex court.

The letter also sought to punish the ministers allegedly involved in the incident.

The letter by advocates Shiv Kumar Tripathi and CS Panda said that in view of the seriousness of the killing of farmers in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh, this is necessary.

This court should intervene in this matter.

Supreme Court to hear on Lakhimpur Kheri violence: Not ready to take any responsibility.

Two days ago, during the hearing of another petition of farmers, the Supreme Court had said that when such unfortunate incidents happen, no one is ready to take responsibility.

The protesters claim that their protest is peaceful, but no one is ready to take responsibility when there is violence.

At the same time, Attorney General KK Venugopal, appearing for the Center, said that there is a need to stop the farmers’ protests immediately to prevent incidents like Lakhimpur Kheri.

There has been a demand for justice for the victims since the violence during the farmers’ protest. The UP government has also registered an FIR in this matter.

An FIR has also been registered against Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son, who is accused of crushing the crowd with his vehicle. However, the Union Minister has denied the allegations.

The lawyers, in a letter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, claimed that violence has become a political culture in the country in recent times.

Lawyers said that there is a need to protect the rule of law in this violence-hit district of UP.

The lawyers’ letter said that the incident demands directions against the law-breaking police machinery under the administrative control of the UP government.

Also, concerned bureaucrats as well as the Ministry of Home Affairs, so as to stop the practice of violence in the country.

He said that his application can be treated as a PIL so that the culprits can be brought to justice.

In the letter, along with a direction to register an FIR against those involved in the incident, it has also been sought to constitute a high-level judicial inquiry committee under the supervision of the apex court.

9 people died in Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

Around 9 people have died in the violence on Sunday during the protest of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri district of UP.

Of these, four farmers were crushed to death by a vehicle, while three BJP workers and a journalist were brutally thrashed to death.
