Taliban is puppet of ISI: claims Former Pentagon official Michael Rubin.
Faiz Hameed, the head of the Pakistani intelligence agency, visited Kabul to resolve the ongoing internal crisis within the Taliban.
According to reports, a clash broke out between Taliban factions over the formation of a new government in Afghanistan.
In which the group’s co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has been injured and is currently undergoing treatment in Pakistan.
Michael Rubin, a resident scholar of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), wrote that Hameed’s emergency visit to Kabul confirms that the Taliban is merely a puppet of the ISI.
The Taliban, which captured Kabul on August 15, has been struggling to form a government in Afghanistan for the past few days.
Although the group has not yet issued a statement on this, reports have claimed that the government’s formation has been delayed due to differences over power-sharing between the Taliban and the Haqqani network.
Since the occupation of Afghanistan, it was said that the Taliban’s top leader, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, would lead the new Afghan regime.
But he was injured during a conflict before the government was announced and is currently in Pakistan. He is undergoing treatment.
Referring to a rift in the Taliban, Rubin said the Haqqani and many other Taliban factions do not accept Habitullah as their leader.
Pakistan’s intelligence chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed arrived in Kabul on Saturday leading a delegation of Pakistani officials.
Rubin writes that the delay in government formation has dealt a blow to Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar’s efforts to become a political leader in Kabul.
This delay could signal a major crisis within the Taliban, so Hameed’s emergency visit to Kabul arrived.
The former Pentagon official said his recent visit exposed the ISI’s hand in toppling the Afghan government.
He said a better approach might be for Washington to designate Faiz Hameed and his organization as terrorists who have hurt Afghanistan for too long.
Pakistan and its notorious intelligence agency have been accused of supporting the Taliban in taking over Afghanistan.
Experts believe that Pakistan has been a major player in toppling the elected Afghan government and establishing the Taliban as a decisive force in Afghanistan.
A recent UN surveillance report states that a significant portion of al-Qaeda’s leadership lives in the Afghanistan and Pakistan border region.
Saleh hit out at the Western power, saying that Afghanistan had been betrayed by the West.
