Tamil Nadu government will now bring an ordinance to ban online games. This ordinance will be brought with immediate effect to ban online games including betting and gambling.

Through this gambling and online games will be banned.

A high-level committee constituted by the state government under the chairmanship of  Retired Judge of Madras High Court Chandru had recommended a ban on online games.

Strict restrictions will not be imposed on all online games.

In fact, the committee submitted its report to Chief Minister MK Stalin on June 27. In this, State Chief Secretary V. Irai Anbu held a meeting of top officials on Saturday to ban online betting and gambling.

If sources are to be believed, strict restrictions will not be imposed on all online games.

Instead, the government plans to ban and regulate sports and limit the amount of time spent on online games to one day or once a week. Also, the amount spent on online games will also be restricted.

17 people committed suicide in three years.

Let us tell you that 17 people have committed suicide in the last three years due to online games.

The committee constituted by the government has given a report that online gaming has become an addiction for the people and it also leads to the loss of a huge amount of money.

The central government is also in discussion with the states to bring in new laws or changes in the existing laws to regulate the industry.

A central government study has estimated the number of people playing online games at 400 million in the country and is expected to reach 700 million by 2025.

Many teams are demanding a ban on online games.

Several political parties in the state including Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) are also campaigning to ban online games in the state.

However, government sources told a news agency that if a complete ban is implemented it would lead to several legal battles, and hence it is considering regulation of the game.

This allows only a limited amount of money to be spent in a certain period of time to play the game online.
