The police, prepared after the incidents of killing of innocent civilians and non-Muslims in the plaintiff, have seized twenty-two wheelers (motorcycles and scooties) in the last two days.

This has created many problems for the people concerned, while various political parties have condemned this campaign of the police.

Meanwhile, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that the operation to seize two-wheelers in the valley has been carried out only to check terror violence.

Target Killing In Kashmir: In the summer capital, terrorists are using only two-wheelers to travel anywhere.

After the killings of non-Kashmiri and non-Muslim civilians in the valley in the past, the administration has tightened the security arrangements.

Temporary check-posts have been put up on all major entry and exit points in Srinagar and police and CRPF personnel patrolling various street markets to search for anti-social elements.

Apart from this, a large number of two-wheelers are being confiscated. The only thing that the two-wheeler driver is told is to come to the police station.

This has created problems for many students, employed people, and their delivery boys associated with various courier companies and e-commerce companies.

Many of these are now walking on foot or are confined to their homes.

A bank worker who came to Kothibagh police station to get rid of his motorcycle said that I have been standing here helpless for three hours.

I was on my way out of the bank during lunch break, towards a restaurant. Police stopped. I showed all the documents, I was also wearing a helmet. Still, my motorcycle was confiscated.

A delivery boy named Mushtaq Ahmed said that my motorcycle was seized on Tuesday. I haven’t done any work since then. You tell me what is my fault.

I have shown the abstract papers, I was also wearing a helmet. I had to go back to the warehouse after picking up a bag of about 60 kg. I walked for three kilometers and that too by lifting 60 kilos.

Target Killing In Kashmir: National Conference spokesperson Ifra Jaan said that by confiscating two-wheelers, what is the police trying to prove.

Due to this, the employment of many people is being affected, many children are not able to reach the tuition on time. Is this the same new Kashmir that was promised on August 5, 2019?

For violation of the rules, you can seize the vehicle of anyone, but in the name of security, no one should be harassed unnecessarily.

The former chief minister and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad also condemned the police operation.

He said people troubled by the ever-increasing petrol prices have stopped using cars and are now adopting two-wheelers. The police are harassing them by seizing their vehicle.

If two-wheelers are not allowed on the road, then what will the common man do? This is not right. No one should be harassed in the name of security. Such actions create anger among people.

Target Killing In Kashmir: IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that terrorists operating in the valley, especially in Srinagar and its adjoining areas, use only two-wheeled vehicles.

In many cases, only two-wheelers are used. They have also been used in the civilian killings in Srinagar. Apart from this, terrorists use mobile internet services to connect with their networks.

That’s why we have started this campaign to put pressure on the terrorists and to identify the two-wheelers used by them. Internet service has also been suspended in some parts of the plaintiff.
