The business of drug addiction in Kashmir is keeping terrorism alive. If there is any major challenge other than terrorism for the Jammu and Kashmir Police, it is the increasing smuggling of narcotics.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested over 1600 smugglers involved in the drug trade within a year. The extent is that even after such a number of arrests and the seizure of narcotics every day, no decrease has been recorded in it.

Jammu and Kashmir Police DGP Dilbag Singh had also said during the press conference last week that the running of the intoxicating business in Kashmir is the second major challenge after terrorism.

This is becoming a problem because the income from this business is becoming Terrorist organizations get financial assistance from this and the work of tricking the youth of Kashmir is being done by putting this addiction.

According to the data given by the DGP, in the year 2020, more than 1,672 drug traffickers were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir.

Not only this, but 1132 cases have also been registered in various police stations of Jammu and Kashmir. The infamous 35 drug smugglers were also booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

But the situation is that there is still no decline in this business. More than five drug smugglers are caught every day in various districts of the state, including the Kashmir Valley.

In fact, the terrorists, who are being taunted by the security forces including the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kashmir, have given sleep to the bosses of terrorist organizations in Pakistan.

Now Pak is following the same strategy in Jammu and Kashmir that they had adopted in Punjab. Seeing the eradication of terrorism there too, Pakistan started sending a huge amount of drugs there.

The only motive behind this is to get the youth drunk and force them to take the path of terrorism for drug abuse. This is also being done now in Kashmir.

The DGP said that drug trafficking has increased during the last two years in Jammu and Kashmir. The number of people consuming them is increasing every day. it’s a matter of concern.

He also told that when Jammu and Kashmir police busted the narco-terrorism module in Jammu, Handwara, Budgam, and Arania, it became clear that Pakistan has to keep the fire of terrorism here behind this drunken business.

The proceeds from the narcotics are passed on to terrorist organizations so that they can continue their terrorist activities through them.

Jammu and Kashmir have intensified its campaign against terrorism as well as anti-national elements operating the drug trade in other districts of the state including Kashmir Valley.

According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, 152.18 kg of heroin, 563.61 kg of cannabis, and 22,230.48 kg of opium and poppy were seized during this year.

Apart from this, 339603 capsules, 57925 intoxicating bottles, and 265 intoxicants were also seized.

On the instructions of the DGP, Jammu, and Kashmir have formed special teams to crack down on drug dealers. All the police in-charge have also been instructed to crackdown against it.
