Terrorist hideout near Rajouri destroyed, 591 AK rifle bullets recovered.

Amid the ongoing anti-militancy operations in Rajouri and Poonch districts, security forces have recovered 591 AK rifle rounds from a terrorist hideout near Rajouri town.

The bullets were seized from a terrorist hideout in the jungles of Patiya in Gurdan Bala village, about seven kilometers from Rajouri town.

A CRPF team carried out a search operation in the Gurdan Bala village area near Rajouri during which a terrorist hideout built-in Patiya forests near a drain was traced and destroyed, officials said.

Meanwhile, the ongoing encounter between terrorists and security forces in the dense forests of Nad Kass in Bhatadhulian village of Mendhar is going on for the tenth day on Saturday amid heavy rains.

While during the search another IED was recovered from the forest. On Friday also, two IEDs were recovered from inside the forest.

On Thursday last week, the information about the hiding of terrorists in the forest was received by the army personnel and the search operation was started at the same time.

The terrorists started firing from inside the forest in which four army personnel including the JCO were martyred. Since then, there has been intermittent firing from inside the forest.

On Friday night too, there were reports of firing inside the forest.

At the same time, during the search of the forest, the army personnel found another IED, which was planted by the terrorists, the army personnel disabled this IED on the spot.

On Friday also, two similar IEDs were recovered from inside the forest and both these IEDs were also neutralized on the spot by the Army’s Bomb Disposal Squad personnel.

Poonch Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Vinod Kumar said that during a search in the forest by a joint team of Army and Police, an IED was found and it was defused at the same time.

He said that this IED was planted by the terrorists inside the forest which was defused. He said three IEDs have been recovered from inside the forest in the last two days.

All three have been disabled in the forest. The security forces are also facing many problems due to heavy rains since last night. Even in heavy rain, the security forces are sitting around the forest.
