The affidavit filed in Supreme Court to increase reservation limit: Karnataka Minister of State for Home.
Karnataka’s Minister of State for Home Basavaraj Bommai has said that the Karnataka government has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court for raising the reservation limit in the state amid increasing demand for reservation in various categories.
Minister Bommai said in a program on Sunday that the Government of Karnataka is ready to increase the maximum reservation limit to 50 percent.
This decision has been taken in a cabinet meeting. An affidavit has also been filed in this regard in the Supreme Court. We expect a good judgment from the Supreme Court.
People of the Kuruba community are demanding reservation in the category of Scheduled Tribes
Bommai said that the people of the Kuruba community in the state are demanding reservation in the category of Scheduled Tribes.
In the Panchmasali 2A category and many different communities are also asking for quota. But this is possible only when the maximum reservation limit is lifted.
The minister said that reservations should be given in a legal and constitutional manner. No one should challenge the verdict. He informed that a retired judge has been appointed to a committee in this regard.
Karnataka: Worker set fire to relative’s house, six including children died; Accused absconding.
On Saturday morning near Ponnapet, a laborer set fire to his relative’s house in a drunken state. Six people, including four children, died and four others were severely scorched in the incident.
All four scorched people are undergoing treatment in Madikeri and Mysuru hospitals. Police said the accused Yerawara Boja was absconding since the incident.
According to police sources, Boja had a fight with his wife Babi for the day. She left the house a week ago and went to live with her brother Manju’s house in the same village.
In a state of intoxication, Boja reached her brother-in-law’s house at two o’clock on Saturday night and knocked on the door. He climbed onto the roof of the house and removed the thatch and poured petrol and set it on fire.
Manju and other family members were not in the Tola house at that time. Both ran and reached there and tried to save.
Babi, Boja’s chalet site by fire, daughter of relative died in the fire of prayer. Four other members have been admitted to hospitals.
