CBI has filed a charge sheet against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and his two assistants in the extortion case of 100 crores.

The charge sheet also made an undue influence on Deshmukh and others in the transfer and posting of police officers.

These allegations were leveled against Deshmukh by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.

The CBI filed this charge sheet a day after Deshmukh’s co-accused Sachin Vaze was allowed to be made a sworn witness in the same case.

Sachin Vaze has been dismissed from Mumbai Police and is an assistant police inspector.

He had alleged that he was summoned to his official residence by the then Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and ordered to recover Rs 100 crore per month from dance bars and restaurants in Mumbai.

Making an application before the special CBI court to make himself an acquittal witness, Wajhe had said that he has been giving full cooperation to the CBI both before and after his arrest.

Only after this, his statement was recorded before the magistrate under the section of CrPC.

The CBI on Thursday filed a charge sheet against Anil Deshmukh, his personal assistants Sanjeev Palande and Kundan Shinde after a special CBI court allowed Sachin Vaze to be made a sworn witness.

After the matter came to light last year, the CBI had started the investigation under the direction of the Bombay High Court.

The CBI had registered a case against Deshmukh in cases like criminal conspiracy, corruption, and taking advantage of his office by abusing him.

Let us tell you that a few days after the CBI registered a case against Anil Deshmukh, the ED also started the investigation by registering a case against him under the sections of PMLA.

The ED had first arrested both his assistants and then Anil Deshmukh on November 2 last year. Since then he is in jail.
