The Central Government Is Preparing To Ban PFI

The central government is preparing to ban PFI, the information given to Supreme Court.

The central government is preparing to put the Popular Front of India (PFI) on the list of banned organizations.

This information was given by the Uttar Pradesh government during the hearing of a case in the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Uttar Pradesh government, told the Supreme Court that Siddique Kappan, a journalist from Kerala, is associated with PFI.

PFI officials have been found to be associated with the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

Uttar Pradesh government gave information to the Supreme Court during the hearing of a case.

A bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana and Justices Suryakant and AS Bopanna questioned Mehta whether the PFI has been banned? In response to this, Mehta said, PFI is banned in many states.

According to my information, the Center is also in the process of banning it. To this, the bench said, it is not yet banned. On this, Mehta said while reading an affidavit filed in December last year, no.

Several PFI officials were found to be associated with SIMI.

An FIR was lodged against the four people for alleged links with the PFI under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

These include Atiq-ur Rehman, Masood Ahmed, and Alam in addition to Siddique Kappan.

The Popular Front of India (PFI), involved in anti-national activities, has recently set up another organization in Kerala called the National Development Fund.

It is collecting donations from the Gulf countries in the name of that organization. PFI’s name came in for organizing violent incidents in Uttar Pradesh in protest against the citizenship law.

PFI is expanding and recruiting new members from the funds received from donations.

Money is coming from abroad through hawala and it is being transacted within the country as well. This has come to light in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation.

The investigation has revealed that PFI has collected more than 50 thousand dirhams (Rs 9.90 lakh) from UAE only. It aims to collect 12.5 lakh dirhams from the UAE.
