The Supreme Court On Monday Dismissed NIA’s Petition

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed (NIA) petition. NIA’s plea against the accused of cutting the palm of the professor dismissed.

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) petition filed against the Kerala High Court’s decision to grant bail to the accused who cut the palm of a professor.

This incident is of 2010. The professor was accused of asking objectionable questions about the Muslim community in the examination paper.

A bench of Justices NV Ramana, Justice Suryakant, and Justice Anirudh Bose did not accept the Centre’s appeal. The bench said that the accused KA Najeeb, who had been absconding for a long time, has been in judicial custody for almost five years.

Justice Suryakant, who wrote the judgment on behalf of the bench, said, ‘We do not want to interfere in this order.

However, we believe that it would have been in the greater interest of the judicial system and society if the accused was required to appear in the local police station every Monday on the conditions of bail and in writing to state that he was not involved in any crime.

On July 4, 2010, several members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) were arrested in Muvattupuzha on charges of cutting the palm of Professor TJ Joseph. The professor was attacked while returning with his mother and sister after Sunday prayers at the local church.
