Three More Arrested In Bangalore illegal Telephone Exchange Case

Three more arrested in Bangalore’s illegal telephone exchange case, used to carry out illegal activities.

Two people have been arrested for providing hundreds of SIM cards using fingerprints of simple people to Ibrahim, the kingpin of the illegal telephone exchange.

Apart from this, a hawala operator has also been arrested in connection with the illegal telephone exchange in the city.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant said on Thursday that with these arrests, so far five people, including kingpin Ibrahim and exchange operator Gautam, have been arrested in the case.

Bengaluru Police said on Wednesday that its counter-terrorism wing was coordinating with military intelligence and busted six illegal telephone exchanges.

30 SIM boxes were being used with 960 SIM cards in the exchange. Ibrahim Pullatti hails from Malappuram in Kerala and Gautam B. Vishwanath is a resident of Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu.

To carry out their illegal activity, the duo had kept SIM boxes in six areas of the city.

Pant said on Thursday that of the two arrested, one from Bengaluru and the other from Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu. The third person is a resident of Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka.

VHP has come out against the Karnataka government’s move to pay compensation to imams of 41 mosques and madrasas in Dakshina Kannada district from Hindu Religious Endowment Department funds.

In a memorandum submitted to state muzrai minister Kota Srinivasa Pujari, the VHP said the money received from Hindu temples and devastates should be used for the welfare of the temples and the Hindu community.

VHP said that we condemn the decision of the state BJP government to use it for mosques and madrasas.

However, the VHP welcomed the government’s decision to compensate the priests of the temples affected by the Covid lockdown.

A VHP statement claimed that the minister, who received the memorandum, assured the VHP leaders that the decision would be withdrawn.

VHP divisional secretary Sharan Pumpwell, district president Gopal Kuthar and secretary Shivanand Mendon were among those who submitted a memorandum to the minister.
