The organization said that hoisting the tricolor flag on Times Square symbolizes the growing patriotism of the Indian-American community.

The Federation of Indian Associations is celebrating its Golden Jubilee Year this year. The FIA, one of the largest migrant organizations, was established in the year 1970. Ankur Vaidya was appointed as the President of the FIA ​​in July after Ramesh Patel, who headed the Indian-American community, died of the Coronavirus.

The 40-year-old Vaidya has been associated with the FIA ​​for a long time and has also been the chairman of the Pravasi Sangathan since 2014. Vaidya has become the youngest board member as well as the youngest chairman.

The Consulate General of India in New York will host a virtual Independence Day event on August 15. The event will be broadcast live. Members of the Indian community, as well as friends from India, have been invited for this.
