Pak Army Chief Asim Munir has again been invited to the US. Why did he get the invitation amidst the tariff war with India. Donald Trump’s announcement of imposing tariffs on India and Pak Army Chief Asim Munir’s second visit to America are in the news. Asim Munir’s visit to America shows that Pakistan’s relations are improving. On the other hand, Donald Trump announced imposing additional tariffs on India, and on the other hand, the Pak Army Chief is ready to visit America again. Asim Munir is going on a US tour for the second time in two months, which is once again the reason for headlines.
Asim Munir is going to America to participate in the farewell of US Army General and United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Michael Kurilla. Pakistan has been on good terms with Kurilla even before. During his tenure, he had described Pakistan as the best partner in fighting terrorism.
Michael Kurilla was the officer who led the US Army in the Middle East and is now retiring. Kurilla had recently praised Pakistan for catching ISIS terrorists using American intelligence.
Earlier, Munir was invited by Donald Trump on his US tour. Then Munir and Trump had lunch together and also talked for two hours, which also made headlines in newspapers. The White House said that Trump had invited Munir because the Pakistan Army Chief had supported Trump in giving the Nobel Peace Prize for the Indo-Pak ceasefire.
On the other hand, in an interview with an American channel, Trump said- ‘India is the country that imposes the highest tariff. We do very little business with India because it imposes very high tariffs. India is not a good business partner country. They do a lot of business with us, but we don’t do business with them. That is why we have imposed a 25 percent tax on them, but I think we are going to increase the duty rates on India significantly in the next 24 hours.
