Two Girls Wearing Hijab Were Not Allowed To Take The Exam

Two girls wearing hijab were not allowed to take the exam in Karnataka and returned from college.

In Karnataka, the second-year pre-university examination began on Friday amid a controversy over the hijab case and tight security.

Alia and Resham, two girls in Udupi, returned from the examination center because they were wearing a hijab.

Please note that there is no entry in the examination hall wearing any such garment which is associated with any religion. More than 6.84 lakh students are participating in 1,076 centers across the state.

The examination, which will continue till May 18, prohibits the hijab or any such garment which is associated with the identity of the religion.

Such arrangements have been made for Muslim girls to remove their scarves outside the examination hall.

At the same time, the girl students present there for the examination said that they will remove the hijab inside the examination hall and will wear it after the examination is over.

A student said, ‘Hijab is important and it is equally important to pass the exam. Our future depends on the results of the examination.

The Education Minister of Karnataka had already given strict instructions regarding Hijab.

The education minister said that those wearing hijab would be prohibited from appearing in the examination.

Education Minister BC Nagesh said that girl students will not be allowed to wear hijab in pre-university exams.

All the students have to follow all the uniform rules, otherwise, they will not be allowed to appear in the examination.

He had said that 6,84,255 students had registered for the pre-university examination to be held in the state between April 22 and May 18.

All security arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of these examinations.

Recently, a special division bench of the Karnataka High Court, headed by Chief Justice Rituraj Awasthi, dismissed the petition of girl students demanding hijab in the classroom.

The bench also observed that the hijab was not a necessary rule of Islam.

It is noteworthy that this petition was filed by six students of Udupi and on their own debut, the issue of hijab had gained momentum across the country including Karnataka.
