At the same time, the court has remarked that the court has to do the work of the government.

Two miscreants got shot in police firing: Instructions to give land within 15 days.

The High Court has warned the government that if the court’s order to provide graveyards in all villages and towns is not implemented within 15 days, the principal secretary of the revenue department will be sent to jail for contempt of court.

Based on an earlier petition by Mohammad Iqbal, the high court had directed the state to provide graveyards in villages that do not have any.

The court had fixed six weeks for this work. The court’s 2019 order is still pending to be implemented by the government.

Petition filed again for pending order from 2019.

Iqbal has once again moved the court with contempt of court petition against the government. The government’s counsel sought time to submit a status report on the matter.

The court, however, objected to the request, saying it was not a missing person case on which the government was required to file a status report.

People vote for good deeds. The government should consider the burial as a “vote-gathering measure”, the court remarked.
