Two policemen martyred in an ambush in Bandipora: Jammu and Kashmir Terrorist Attack.

Two policemen were martyred in an ambush by terrorists in north Kashmir’s Bandipora on Friday.

To nab the attacking terrorists, the security forces launched a search operation, cordoning off the spot and its adjoining areas, but they could not find any clue.

The terrorists of The Resistance Front (TRF) or Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir, also known as Vilaya Hind and Hind Province, are believed to be responsible for the attack.

According to information received from Bandipora, a team of Jammu and Kashmir Police was on regular patrol at Gulshan Chowk in Bandipora at around 4.30 pm today.

Suddenly the terrorists, who were already ambushed in a street, opened fire on the police party with their automatic weapons.

The terrorists also targeted the police vehicle.

Before the policemen retaliated by rescuing themselves, two policemen got injured and fell to the ground. Other policemen took their positions and retaliated.

They exercised some restraint in view of the security of the common people in the chaos in the square due to the terrorist attack, the terrorists took advantage of this and fled.

As soon as the information about the attack was received, Army personnel and CRPF personnel patrolling the nearby area also reached the spot. Senior police officers also reached the spot.

They took both the injured policemen there to a nearby hospital for treatment, where the doctors declared both of them as martyrs.

The martyred policemen have been identified as Driver Selection Grade Constable Mohammad Sultan resident of Mukam Dangarpora Soper and Constable Fayaz Ahmed resident of Lalpara, Lolab.

The concerned police officials said that there was a huge crowd in Gulshan Chowk when the attack took place.

If the policemen had not exercised restraint in retaliation, then along with the terrorists, many civilians could have lost their lives.

The blockade of the entire area has been done to catch the terrorists and they will soon be caught or killed.

Lt Governor expressed deep condolences, said – all possible help will be given to the families of the martyrs.

The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir strongly condemned the cowardly terrorist attack in Bandipora.

He tweeted that there are not enough words to condemn. All possible help will be extended to the families of the sacrificed JK Police personnel.

Expressing anger over the incident, he said that the enemy of peace will be avenged. He is determined to destroy the entire terrorist network.
