Two Suspected Terrorists Arrested In Assam

Two suspected terrorists arrested in Assam, are connected to ABT; CM had already warned about madrasas.

Two suspected terrorists were arrested from Assam. Police have arrested two suspected terrorists belonging to Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) in Morigaon district.

The arrested suspected terrorists have been identified as Musadiq Hussain and Ikramul Islam.

Ikramul is an Imam and was arrested in the Nagaon district. Meanwhile, the state police arrested Hussain from the Moirabari area of Morigaon district.

Morigaon district superintendent of police Aparna N told the news agency that both the arrested terrorists have links with the banned outfit ABT.

Last month, the Morigaon district administration demolished a madrasa in Moirabari. When the police busted a terrorist module on the premises of a religious educational institution.

So far, the state administration has demolished three madrassas across the state after the arrest of around 40 people, including Imams and madrassa teachers, on charges of having links with terrorist organizations.

Moreover, another such educational institution was demolished by the locals themselves after a cleric associated with it was arrested for alleged anti-national activities.

In the past, there were reports that some terrorists had entered the state in the guise of religious teachers and quietly went ahead with their subversive and anti-state activities.

Not a madrassa management body, but a terrorist center: CM.

At the same time, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that some madrassas are running a terrorist center and not a management body.

With this, he had said, ‘I do not want to generalize (all madrasas), but when there is the complaint of fundamentalism, we investigate and take appropriate action.’

Terrorists are members of AQIS.

Recently, Chief Minister Sarma said in a press conference that six Bangladeshi nationals are members of the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) / Al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).

Those who entered Assam in 2016-17 and Assam Police had arrested one of them and five are still absconding.

For better monitoring, the Chief Minister of Assam had reiterated that Islamic teachers visiting the state would be closely monitored, and furthermore, the state was developing a portal where their details would be recorded.
